Hey—it’s Darren.
Today is your 26th weekly decision tip.
That means I’ve been writing these insights for six months.
As you may have noticed, I like to pause and reflect. I see it as a critical part of making big decisions as well as helping you learn from past ones.
And so I thought, rather than give you another insight, I would reflect on some of the insights from the last six months.
I’ve explored everything from Elon Musk’s Algorithm to predicting regret.
But some have come from closer to home.
Yes, the insight you read was as much for me as they were for you.
Here is one story that meant more:
It’s 1965.
A young American son has just discovered racing in cars. He says to his dad, “I want to be a racing driver, like them.”
The response probably would have been:
“That’s impossible, you might as well try and walk on the moon.”
But 4 years later, NASA took that utterance and made it irrelevant.
They put a man on the moon.
The lesson: the only limitations on us are the laws of physics.
Decision-making is often a mental debate we have with ourselves.
We assume, judge, and feel our way to indecision with ease.
We create barriers preventing success. Often, the only limiting factor we truly face is ourselves.
It pays to set an anchor to keep you grounded. This is where I set Elon’s quote.
"Physics is the law; everything else is a recommendation."
Anchoring this as a foundational truth lets me debate—with myself and others—from a position of opportunity, not limitation.
Thanks for reading,
Darren (moon walker)
